Times bookstores set to unveil flagship store in The Pavilion
Opens in September 2007, the outlet is chain’s largest store in Malaysia
In September 2007, book lovers and shoppers are treated to a new ‘book shopping’ experience when Times opens its flagship bookstore in “Pavilion KL”. Spanning an area of 18,000 sq feet, the contemporary and customer-friendly flagship store is Times’ largest outlet in Malaysia to-date.
Awash in vibrant hues of orange and black, and unveiling an identity that is dynamic and current, the store is designed and built with the customer in mind. Book lovers will enjoy a slew of features and services to cater to their book shopping and reading needs in this refreshingly re-branded store.
Whether you are a light or a serious reader, you are able to find something you like from a wide selection of over 200,000 books ranging from children’s to business and management, to fiction or non-fiction and lifestyle topics. Magazine lovers may indulge in the store’s 10,000 plus magazines. Nonbook products including general and executive gifts, stationery, reading accessories, greeting cards, fine writing instruments and DVD’s complement the range to make it a complete book shopping experience.
For the shopper’s convenience, self-help online book search kiosks (with access to 4 million English language book titles) are positioned throughout the store. Of the 800,000 English language titles in print, some of which may not be readily available in Malaysia, Times bookstores will happily place an order of requested titles for the avid reader.
The amenity of a café offers the shopper a sweet breather to have a bite or refreshing drink or to just enjoy the ambience around them. Comfortable reading seats are placed at several points throughout the store for the customer to preview their favourite book. Some things in life do come free: customers may enjoy free delivery within Klang Valley, and free gift wrapping for purchases.
For those who need to stay connected, they will welcome the Wi-fi service. Times at The Pavilion utilizes mobile technology to serve its customers by equipping its roving staff with hand-held PDA’s to provide on-the-spot answers on book enquiries. Plasma TV’s placed at strategic points in the store informs customers of promotions and activities as well as entertains with specially-tailored programs.
Membership does have its privileges. Times Privilege Card members have a place to call their own in a members’ dedicated lounge where they may enjoy a cuppa while browsing through their book purchases. Special events and activities just for members are held here. Member discounts and special deals will continue to be part of the membership privileges.
“Before we started working on the concept of this new store, we talked to our customers to find out more about their book shopping needs and experience. Their feedback has been invaluable in helping us design and build a bookstore that will cater to their book shopping and reading needs. Our customers can now expect to step into the Times bookstores at Pavilion KL that is fun, cosy, relaxing, yet stimulating at the same time. They can also expect an enhanced service quality for a customer-friendly and enriching book shopping experience,” said Ong Khiaw Hui, General Manager, Times bookstores.
“We at Times are very excited with this store, and are looking forward to serving our customers in this new and improved environment. We hope our customers will like the end result. As book lovers ourselves, we’re constantly striving to improve our services to meet our customers’ book shopping and reading needs and expectations, and hope they will continue to provide us with their feedback,” Khiaw Hui added.
With its modern and fresh appeal, Times at “Pavilion KL” will indeed set the pace for the launch of other outlets not only within Malaysia, but also in Singapore and Macau.
